Pittsburgh, PA – October 8, 2024 – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania (BGCWPA), in partnership with Clearview Federal Credit Union, will unveil a vibrant new outdoor mural at the Northern Area Clubhouse on October 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM.

The Northern Area Clubhouse is located at 100 Howard Street in Millvale Boro. The mural, funded in part by a contribution from Clearview Federal Credit Union, celebrates the shared mission of both organizations to empower youth across the Pittsburgh region and break down barriers to access quality programming.

The public is invited to attend the mural unveiling event, joining representatives from Clearview,  members of the Millvale Community and Northern Area Clubhouse Kids, and celebrate this exciting new chapter in their ongoing partnership with BGCWPA.

The mural was created as part of a broader initiative between BGCWPA and Clearview Federal
Credit Union, dedicated to the mural project and supporting scholarships for the BGCWPA’s Summer Camps. The mural’s design reflects the vibrant energy of the youth served at the Northern Area Clubhouse, symbolizing growth, creativity, and the bright futures that BGCWPA and Clearview strive to foster.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Clearview Federal Credit Union to bring this beautiful piece of art to our Northern Area Clubhouse and the Millvale community,” said Christopher Watts, President & CEO at BGCWPA. “This mural is not just a work of art; it’s a reflection of our shared commitment to creating inspiring, inclusive environments for the young people in our communities.”

The mural was designed by Rachel Herman, Arts Manager at BGCWPA, in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club team and Club Kids at the Northern Area Clubhouse. The mural’s design demonstrates the lifespan of a Club Kid from preschool through their teen years, along with participation in Boys & Girls Clubs programs such as Sports and STEAM.  The mural’s design also reflects the vibrant energy of the youth served at the Northern Area Clubhouse, symbolizing growth, creativity, and the bright futures that BGCWPA and Clearview strive to foster.

“It has been such a joy to bring art to the Club Kids of BGCWPA and being able to create this mural for the Northern Area club has been especially fulfilling,” said Herman. “The design, paint colors, and style are all intentional to represent growth along with bold, bright opportunities and futures. Aside from their general inspiration, the Club Kids also made a huge contribution to this mural by pulling colors from the design to paint a beautiful abstract border. It was extremely important to me to have the kids involved in some way, as we strive to encourage their creativity and ideas as much as possible. I know the Boys & Girls Club team, kids, and their families are excited to have something that they can enjoy for many years to come!”

“At Clearview, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting our youth,” said Lisa Florian, President & CEO of Clearview Federal Credit Union. “This mural symbolizes the bright futures we are helping to shape alongside the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania. We are proud to contribute to this project, which brings beauty to the Northern Area Clubhouse and reflects our shared mission of empowering young people to thrive and succeed.”
