Making Childcare Affordable for families through Child Care Works (CCW)

Our goal at BGCWPA is to provide high-quality care and programming to all kids in our community and CCW is one of those ways. The subsidized Child Care Works program helps low-income families pay their BGCWPA program fees for children ages 3-13.

BGCWPA can financially assist families until they hear back from CCW on their application so they can have access to childcare immediately.

STEP 1: Application Guidelines

  • You must live in Pennsylvania
  • Have a child or children who need childcare while you work or attend an education program
  • Have children under the age of 13 (or 18 for children with special needs).
  • Work 20 or more hours a week, OR work 10 hours and go to school or train for 10 hours a week
  • Have a promise of a job that will start within 30 days of your application for subsidized child care
  • Teen parents must attend an education program
  • The child who needs care must be a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residency
  • Have proof of identification for each parent or caretaker in the home
  • Meet income guidelines for your family size

STEP 2: Application Checklist

What you need to have for the 2-step application process.*

If you already have a Compass Account you can login to make the application process quick and easy.

HOUSEHOLD YOU NEED:

  • Names and birthdates of everyone living in the household
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Email

INDIVIDUALS YOU NEED:

  • Citizenship information (ex: Social Security Number)
  • Childcare needs and dates
  • Tax paperwork

INCOME YOU NEED:

  • Income details (paycheck stubs, bank statements, Disability or Social Security documents)
  • Work or school details (address, contact info)

EXPENSES YOU NEED:

  • Household expenses (utility bills; transportation receipts; child support, alimony, or medical expenses)

*Some items you will need at application submission, the other items you will need after you are mailed the remaining application.

STEP 5: Need Help?

Once you have submitted your application, BGCWPA can temporarily assist you, so you can have access to childcare immediately.
