Thank You.
Meet Tayshawn. Tayshawn is our 2025 Youth of the Year. A Stanton Heights native, Tayshawn joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania 2 years ago hoping to expand his horizons. Tayshawn instantly stood out as an emerging leader with his confidence and attitude.
Scott Flurry, Director of Teen and Career Development stated about Tayshawn, “Instantly for me was his level of maturity which is an oxymoron for a 12yr old. It was like a quiet confidence blended with respect, integrity and intelligence. His work ethic was also noticed almost immediately. His attention to detail to complete tasks along with his desire to do his absolute best was very apparent.”
It was this drive that led Tayshawn to participate in many of our programs, including Artificial Intelligence Pathways Institute, Money Matters, and the Youth Advocacy Council.
Through the Youth Advocacy Council, Tayshawn uses his platform as Youth of the Year to advocate for young people as well as his community. Recently, Tayshawn and the council were invited to Harrisburg to sit down with Lt. Governor Austin Davis to discuss legislation important to the youth in the council and across PA.
Because of Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, Tayshawn now knows the path he wants to take. He wants to be a leader; a change maker. He found his voice at Boys & Girls Clubs, and with your support you can inspire more Club Kids to become our future leaders. Just like Tayshawn.
America needs Club Kids.
