Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania’s
Character & Leadership programs empower
youth to support and influence BGCWPA and
make an impact on their immediate community.
As designed by these programs, our participants develop
a positive self-image, sustain meaningful relationships with
others, participate in the democratic process and respect
their own as well as others’ cultural identities. Our programs
help youth become responsible, caring citizens by developing
leadership skills as well as an unwavering understanding of
the importance for service learning.
Youth of the Year:
Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program for Clubhouse members,
promoting service to Boys & Girls Clubs, community and family; academic success; strong moral character;
life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The program is most effective when used as a year-round
tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities.
